Historical record of the genus Sicydium (Pisces: Gobiidae) and its inshore fishery exploitation in the Ecuadorian coast

The genus Sicydium, called "chautiza" on the Ecuadorian Taps coast, is a fish type that has an amphidromy migratory behavior and whose post-larvary state is used locally as a food and economic resource.There are records of this fish in old bibliographic sources and in some popular folktales.They not only describe the presence of "chautiza" along the Ecuadorian shoreline, but also its presence EYELASH AND EYEBROW DYE in rivers.These records have helped increase knowledge of the distribution of the "chautiza".

Nowadays, its existence is very low and, in some places, extinct.
